Following Vigilant's announcement of the formation of the AZBITC in June 2017, much work had yet to be accomplished. This included the selection of the group's initial officers, the creation of by-laws, seeking the advice of seasoned government strategists, and securing the services of an attorney to supervise the effort and keep it on the right legal track.
During the group's early discussions, Todd White of Rulon & White Government Strategies offered to serve as a sounding board and helpful voice of experience as the coalition began to set down action items and tasks to move forward. Todd's invaluable experience and advice was of great assistance to the board's efforts at the outset, and he remains an important source of information that will be useful as we begin to make real headway on this project. Another important voice in the group's early discussions has been C. Murphy Hebert of the House Democratic Caucus. Both of these experienced people have extensive experience dealing with legislators on both sides of the aisle, and will be of invaluable assistance to the coalition in taking a bipartisan approach to the issue.
At the time of this writing, the coalition is hard at work establishing the approach of the by-laws, preparing documentation, reaching out to other coalition members for input, and seeking legal interns to assist with the effort. Keep checking back here for more news as this effort begins to show real progress!
